Well of Pascal

Well of Pascal
During one of his stays in Port-Royal, Blaise Pascal had a well of 27 height gauge (54 metres) deep dug for his various scientific works. He imagined a reduction mechanism thanks to a gear wheel.
The legend tells that a twelve years old child can extract the water thanks to two 130 litres buckets, one going up and the other going down.
Extracted from an article of the Municipal Bulletin Nº5 - January 1996.
